PRESS RELEASE: January 2018

11 NEW BRANDS TO INTEGRATE RECCO RESCUE REFLECTORS

The RECCO Advanced Rescue Technology is currently integrated in products from more than 200 brands, making their customers searchable for organized rescue in case of an avalanche. For next winter, 11 additional brands will be integrating reflectors in their products.

The new brands joining the efforts of making people searchable through RECCO reflectors are Cortez (ski clothes), Kanuk (winter jackets), Manby (helmets), Boeri (helmets), Templa (ski clothes), Grivel (climbing helmets) and SCARPA (Ski mountaineering Boot, see article below). The list also includes several returning brands with an earlier history of the RECCO rescue system: Atomic (helmets), Avalanche Ski Wear (ski clothes), O’Neill (ski clothes) and Pelle P (ski clothes). The RECCO-reflectors in these products will enable professional rescuers to faster locate and rescue victims caught and buried by avalanches using a RECCO detector. RECCO is a global avalanche rescue system for professional rescue and is currently utilized by more than 800 ski resorts, mountain rescue teams and rescue helicopters world-wide.

RECCO® is an avalanche rescue system utilized by more than 800 rescue organizations worldwide to facilitate the rapid location of burials. The two-part system consists of a detector used by organized rescue groups and reflectors that are integrated into apparel, helmets, protection gear or boots. Together they enable directional pinpointing of a victim’s precise location using harmonic radar but are not a substitute for a transceiver. Complementary in function, the system is an additional tool that does not interfere with avalanche dogs, transceiver searches or probe lines. The RECCO® system facilitates a faster organized search and increases the chance of being found in time. RECCO AB was founded in 1983 and is owned by its founder Magnus Granhed and the publicly traded investment company Traction AB (listed on OMX Nordic Exchange Stockholm). More info on: www.recco.com
